Born in 1878 in Polotsk, Vitebsk Province, Sorin’s artistic journey led him from the Odessa Drawing School to the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg, where he studied under the esteemed Ilya Repin. His career flourished across Europe and America, capturing the likenesses of cultural icons such as Feodor Chaliapin, Anna Akhmatova, and Princess Elizabeth, the future Queen Elizabeth II. His works have graced exhibitions from Paris to New York, solidifying his status as a master portraitist.
To bring this compelling narrative to life, we have gathered an extensive collection of Sorin’s artworks, personal letters, photographs, and archival footage. These materials offer an intimate glimpse into his creative process and the cultural milieu of his time.
